Our Mission Statement

To attract, advocate and support economic vitality and seek to constantly improve the business climate in Falmouth.

Our History and Accomplishments

The Falmouth Economic Development and Industrial Corporation (EDIC) was established on April 7, 1981 for the purpose of improving local economic conditions, to promote business development/ investment and job opportunities for Falmouth residents. Noted below are a selection of the projects the EDIC has completed.

The Falmouth EDIC’s first project was the development of the highly successful Falmouth Technology Park; a 106-acre property dedicated to technology related and light industrial development businesses. This park contains more than 15 businesses today and provides well in excess of 400 jobs in Falmouth.

Likewise, the EDIC was the developer of the new Raymond Business and Technology Park; a 20-acre property located in North Falmouth. This park was successfully developed into the home of numerous technology, office, and medical businesses.

The EDIC even then maintained an active role in Affordable Housing; acting as facilitator on 704 Main Street; a 58-unit family housing development in downtown Falmouth and a 24-unit family development adjacent to Raymond Business and Technology Park on Edgerton Drive.

Beginning in 2016, the EDIC managed the renovation of the historical Falmouth Station building with $1.4M in funding from MassDOT. This included major upgrades to electricity, windows, roofing, and many other enhancements including adding the Station Grill Café - providing a more enjoyable public experience to the thousands of residents, tourists, Shining Sea bikeway users and bus patrons who pass through this beautiful property.

As well in 2016, the EDIC with Citizens Energy began to develop a 2-Phase Solar Array at the Falmouth Landfill site. This project was completed in 2022; providing low cost clean energy and economic benefits to the Town and lower income residents of Falmouth.

In 2019 the Falmouth EDIC and the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce approached OpenCape on behalf of Falmouth Main Street merchants and businesses who were having consistent difficulties related to unstable internet connectivity that were affecting their ability to effectively operate. OpenCape responded with a proposal for the Falmouth Business Gigabit Project, so called because it would connect businesses to a shared Gigabit of Internet. This successful project is ongoing and providing many business users with low cost, stable and fast internet service.

To assist the struggling small business owners in Falmouth during the Covid-19 crisis, between 2020 -2022 the Falmouth EDIC worked developing and facilitating one of the MA DHCD sponsored Community Development Block Grant programs. The EDIC was gratified to be able to award $173,840 in grant funding to 13 deserving small business owners in Falmouth to help them though this challenging period.

The Falmouth EDIC Board continues to expand its role in local economic development and views Affordable Housing as a major subject of interest and an important component of the Town of Falmouth’s future economic stability.
